Coastal Maine

Castine, Maine is one of the oldest towns in New England and overlooks Penobscot Bay. This town is rich in history and known for it’s well preserved colonial architecture. Just a nice, still sunrise here

Springtime

Rainbows with golden hour light are always fun to witness and photograph. This one was seen and shot in Montgomery County, MD, in the Ag Reserve area.

Jesup Path Dressed in Fall

Hard to beat this iconic spot in peak fall color. This path is in Acadia National Park in Maine. I’ve got a landscape photography workshop here in October. Deets at my website.

To the Sea

At the beach last weekend and caught a nice sunrise. These ancient horseshoe crabs were all over (maybe their mating season or something?) and this guy made a nice foreground. .3 second exposure for some movement. 12mm at f14.

Post Storm

On this evening the storm cleared just before sunset providing nice light and a double rainbow. This is WV’s Dolly Sods Wilderness.

Sunrise at Boulder Beach

Iconic Acadia National Park. One of my fav places to photograph, this park is full of amazing places to explore and shoot. It’s a crowded park in the summer but going in early and late is a good way to avoid crowds.

Rock Run

This image of a beautiful Pennsylvania mountain stream is a multi-image pano and long exposure (1 second). On a side note, somehow I managed to spell Pennsylvania correctly on first try (no small feat for me).

Color and Fog

Not long before sunrise, in beautiful Canaan Valley, the foggy landscape and colorful sky transitions into daytime. So much stunning scenery in this area and the ever-changing weather make it a great place to photograph.

Foggy Morning

Fog burns off at an old barn and a beautiful web. This image captured in the highlands of West Virginia on a foggy fall morning. Endless photo opportunities and diverse landscapes here.

Thunderhead

Storm clouds over an old farmhouse and barn in the MoCo Ag Reserve here in Maryland. Lots of great landscapes and spring brings storms and interesting skies. Great black and white opportunities. #blackandwhite #monochrome #landscape #farm #maryland

Fall Sunrise, Dolly Sods Wilderness

I love the reds (wild blueberry and huckleberry) in the fall in the West Virginia Highlands. Dolly Sods, along the Allegheny Front, is always a nice place to watch the sun rise. Endless landscape compositions here. Protect wilderness. #dollysods #canaanvalley

Patterson Hood

With the start of his solo tour coming up soon, here’s a photo I took of the @drivebytruckers.bsky.social singer/songwriter (one of them, anyway), Patterson Hood. If you have not, check out Drive by Truckers sometime.

Schoodic Sunset

Schoodic is the only part of Acadia National Park located on the mainland. Most of this park is on Mount Desert Island in Maine. This was a stunning sunset a couple of years ago, looking from Schoodic toward Cadillac Mountain.

Great golden hour light on an old barn & farm with large storm clouds gathering. This is the MoCo Ag Reserve, Maryland, not long before sunset. Lots of interesting landscapes & old barns around these parts. That sky and light…

Isle of Skye, Scotland

Seemingly countless amazing landscape scenes such as this one. Lush greens blanket the landscape here and amazing rock formations are all over. Isle of Skye should, IMO, be on a landscape photographers list of must visit locations.

Selective framing of the lighthouse on Assateague Island with some late afternoon side-light. The unspoiled beach and amazing wildlife aren’t the only thing to photograph here.

Fall in Acadia National Park

An image I captured at sunrise a couple of years ago in Acadia. Ocean meets mountains in this amazing national park. And the fall color was icing. I’m co-leading a photog workshop here this fall and very much looking forward to it.
