In advance of the holiday, an early #FluorescenceFriday 🔬🧠, posted w/ a huge amount of gratitude for all the members of the amazing division I get to lead, especially those who indulge me with a "Pretty" folder in their server directory 🤩. Image credit to Stephanie Cerceo Page (NeuN 🟣, MAP2 🟢)

It’s really cool - the fossils are a result of geological formations from the Miocene. Today we got shark teeth and a first with a bone fragment from a whale - courtesy of help IDing from a ranger!

Calvert Cliffs - beautiful anyway - but the fossil and shark teeth hunting are also amazing fun 🤩

Turbo 3K mystery puzzle 🧩 - highly recommend, really fun!

One more #FluorescenceFriday to give some ❤️ to the mouse 🧠 - I really like the orientation of this slice - locus coeruleus is labeled here with tyrosine hydroxylase in PINK with some virally-labeled axons traversing through in ORANGE 🔬🧪

Not sure why this image was so dark originally, but re-exported with just the inset!

For #FluorescenceFriday, some very new images of island clusters of cells expressing DRD1, RXFP1 and OPRM1 in nucleus accumbens of human 🧠. And thanks for the suggestions Reviewer Two - we're on it :)

Me lurking in people's folders on the server for #FluorescenceFriday. Image is so fresh off the scope that I don't even know what it is so I can't even tell you what the channels are - but, somebody (RA Jason Rehg) is doing something in the VTA and whatever it is, it looks super cool 🤩🧠🔬🧪

Our lateral septum (LS) team is representing for #SfN25! We have two posters on Wed afternoon from RA Madeline Abramson (PSTR463.16) and undergraduate Yufeng Du (PSTR463.17) showcasing newest molecular profiling results across mouse, non-human primate and human 🧠

I'm there too - get in touch!

Admission is also free! But, if you give a donation and have kids in tow, they give some food to feed the fish in the tropics part of the botanical garden. Totally worth it if you are in town!

Was embarrassed to have never been after being here so many years - Rawlings Conservatory definitely lives up to the hidden gem definition, especially the Orchid Room 🤩

An individual common milkweed seed pod has about 200 seeds. Thinking about the many tens of thousands of seeds me and the wind are conspiring to release in the next few weeks is a pleasant thought ;) #NativePlants 🌱

These images of a tissue block face are part of an ongoing effort to map the molecular neuroanatomy of human 🧠 basal ganglia & basal forebrain structures at high resolution 🔬🧪. You can totally get lost staring at these - human 🧠 organization is fascinating.

Both the leaves 🍁 and the berries are amazing on Viburnum nudums in Fall. Birds love these berries so much though that they are often completely picked over by the time color changes #NativePlants 🌱

Panicled Aster (Symphyotrichum lanceolatum) still popping out blooms solidly into Fall. #NativePlants 🌱
