Also I found a house for you nearby. It's sort of Gormenghast abandoned for 20 years. About 15 bedrooms. Nice views out to sea .

True but the point that gilts are called gilts for a reason remains. They are (at least) as guaranteed as cash. However, I see they will likely be banned from S&S ISAs too, so won't be available.
