I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

These numbers for ice are insane
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:
- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida.
If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

As an UX Leader, I love to have engineers and people from other teams take notes when doing user interviews. I think some times people get caught up in their work that they for get the humans using their products and services. So I think this is a great idea for leaders.
