As to the new appointment, that is my suspicion as well. Not sure that I agree about the Anglican Communion, although I suspect that it'll quite soon end up with a primus or presiding bishop who is not the AbC.

At least he has some talent for something... I have an awful sinking feeling that it might be Her Lordship of Newcastle whom I have known for ages and of whom I think very highly; but it's not a job I'd wish on my worst enemy...

Speaking as an historian with the properist of proper credentials, I completely deny the assertion that you are not a 'proper historian'... and in any case improper historians sound altogether more fun!
