Every day patients are enduring shocking waits and unsafe, undignified care in corridors - it's unacceptable.

We need urgent investment to improve staffing and bed levels in hospitals, alongside new funding to grow the nursing workforce in community & social care.

After the last round of strike action, resident doctors in England gave Wes Streeting a window to deliver sufficient progress towards a viable deal on jobs and pay.

That hasn’t happened.

Residents have been given no choice but to return to the picket lines.

This report is a damning indictment of the way nursing is chronically undervalued, with highly-skilled nurses being routinely pushed into lower paid, less senior roles.

Governments need to recognise nursing as the expert, safety-critical profession it is.

The US administration's proposals to exclude nursing from its list of professional degrees will restrict access to student loans, leaving many students unable to pursue a nursing career.

This is the wrong approach and we will always defend those who sit at the heart of every health and care system.

The chancellor pledged to protect the NHS, yet it was just a footnote in today’s Budget.
