I am volunteer Chair of a local charitable company. Half of our directors are retired, the other half, including me, are working full time.

I very much appreciate the efforts of our retired directors, and the 'above and beyond' efforts of those still in 'day jobs'.

It's quite tiresome isn't it? Would somebody please deliver the proper brexit, the one that delivers higher household incomes, better public services, and international prestige. How difficult can it be?

I once travelled to Paris on the Eurostar sitting across the aisle from David and Victoria Coren-Mitchell (cool, internationalist, froody). I don't think that I have ever had a better train journey.

As a man in very late middle age, and also a punk back in the day, the Kneecap set at Glastonbury reminded me of the energy and anger of the music from 1977.
