And sure, there are some institutional constructs that reinforce a grift and minimize inquisitiveness that draw large communities. "I was raised catholic" should suffice.

Not that this makes anyone impervious to misinformation or willful misunderstanding. It's no silver bullet, but I just wish I could shake some people and assure them no one will laugh if they admit they need to learn more.

I'm very lucky that my immediate circle is full of these sorts of folks and that compassion is a natural consequence of curiosity
