Drawing on qualitative fieldwork, I argue that this deviation is largely due to the party's strategies for achieving initial integration and overcoming the historical cordon sanitaire that affected them.

In this article, I examine the allocation of municipal portfolios to the populist radical right Sweden Democrats following the 2022 elections and find an interesting pattern of deviation from Gamson's law.
