HOAs are a menace.

I kinda like the lions. I won't insist on those being included in the purchase price - they aren't merry go round horses, after all - but I kinda like them.

MERRY GO ROUND HORSES, REBECCA. MERRY GO ROUND HORSES.

I mean, criticize the kitchen decor all you want - I won't stop you - and the maid statue, but, MERRY GO ROUND HORSES. AT LEAST THREE OF THEM.

Granted, even if I win the Powerball today (should probably buy a ticket, but, that's a separate post) I won't buy this place unless it COMES WITH THE MERRY GO ROUND HORSES that is non negotiable.

Particularly prevalent in online discussions of television shows.

Particularly particularly particularly prevalent in online discussions of television shows that adapted source materials and made changes along the way.

The thing is, Murphy Cat and Mickey Cat firmly believe that paying attention to them DOES count as getting things done.

Murphy Cat would even add that doing anything other than feeding him, petting him, playing FEATHER with him, or being used as a bed by him is just a waste of time.

Totally different publisher, I'm very sorry to say.

So to see the Wall Street Journal try to claim that a wheelchair is some sort of timesaver, even if just for skipping lines at an airport....

.....auuugh.
December 19, 2025 at 3:14 AM
Everything, everything, everything takes longer.

Sometimes just a few seconds (loading me AND a wheelchair into a chair.)

Sometimes much longer.

Or yesterday, where what would be one trip to the recycling center via car is about four trips via the much smaller basket in my trike.

I also found myself remembering the time when I had to wait for three buses at Disney instead of just two, because of a lack of wheelchair spots on the Disney buses.

And how incredibly grateful I am for Disney's comparatively excellent accessibility.

(for those wondering why I so often wait so long to make reservations for the 24th....well, this isn't the only reason, but it's one reason.)
December 19, 2025 at 2:57 AM
Today I tried to make reservations for a thing for next Wednesday.

Turns out that the place "isn't really accessible" and "well, I don't know that you'll be able to get around."

I know this because the theatre ushers WARNED ME.

(I braked!)

This was for a 287 person audience.

One wheelchair seat. One.
December 19, 2025 at 2:55 AM
The next theatre had exactly ONE wheelchair seat. ONE.

It was VERY exciting! It was on a little raised platform that you could roll right into. If ANYONE hit you from behind and you weren't braked, you and your chair could fall RIGHT OFF.

Those wheelchair seats were also just below the stage level, so we spent the performance with our necks slightly craned upwards.
