as i said, the intersection comes from fanfic writers becoming traditionally published in larger numbers and the focus of market demands catering to wattpad etc.'s influence. not sure how to be more clear here or what the resistance is about exactly.

right, i'm talking about trends or popular writing, which i have specified.

in my professional observation, yes, i have personally seen a shift in popular narrative voices in the last decade among Big Five-pubbed books and seen the trend discussed among editors, so i am confident in asserting that contemporary fan fiction has influenced trad pubbed writing in recent years.

maybe! it's definitely gotten more ubiquitous with fanfic writers becoming published authors and market demands trying to accommodate and appeal to fanfic readers.

in my experience i would liken "fanfic voice" to contemporary first-person YA: simple, casual, almost diary-like narration. it's fine and serves a purpose and is definitely appropriate for the category, but if it's all you read, it starts to come off undercooked, tepid, unchallenging

Man, it's so great when I get to fine-tune writing by someone who knows what they're doing! I feel like I'm more likely to make really useful catches, too, when I'm not swamped with fixing a million incorrectly punctuated dialogue tags or whatever.

character name misspellings, echoes, improper punctuation abound
