It is what it is, isn't it, ain't never was that it wasn't somehow
I've looked into the guy, and - take it from a person from a country that's barely managed to kick the fashies out after a decade of rule recently: y'all are going to have to compromise on people like this, even if it's distasteful. Take who you can get, anything's better than fascism.

I'm looking in on this from an outside perspective and genuinely curious.

It looks like the democrats in the US finally have a guy who not only understands that "they go low, we go high" is not a viable way to oppose fascism, and is actually doing something.

Why the hate? Am I missing something?

Speaking as someone who's had nearly the exact same problem a couple years ago - definitely get it checked out if it's outside the normal pattern.

Mine persisted for a week, didn't go away until I got a proper dose of triptanes.

Separation of concerns is a societal construct. Embrace non-modularity. Become one with the Blob.

If you've got a decent hook and a workable demo, there's a site somewhere that distributes keys to your game to various influencers. Keymailer, I think it was?

Not mentioning Poland as a threat is a big mistake.

Janusz, get the Geneva Wishlist, we're going to Moscow

The greatest example of this are the ceaseless new ways they find to attempt to portray their weakness as strength.

Trump is the first US president to proudly and openly negotiate with a terrorist, but they'd have you think it's "powerful peace negotiations". Food prices? "Not a priority", etc.

The key takeaway from Eco's essay is, I think, the fact that fascism is fundamentally the ideology of no ideology - it cares only for attaining and keeping power and any narrative around that is free to change as is convenient.

Vis: the GOP's constantly evolving list of "woke" things.

I tend to see it as the poster being charitable more than anything else, assuming people know things.

From a euro perspective, most of what follows an opener like that usually _is_ common, high school level knowledge. We do place a lot more emphasis on teaching the humanities out here, though.

I'm not sure narcissism is really necessary for this. A culture that valorizes ignorance, violence, and belief despite evidence is the exact definition of a fascist society - and it doesn't take a narcissist to be a fascist.

All it takes is a certain detachment from reality, I'd say.

Your work's great! If I've learned anything, it's that lack of recognition is nearly always a reflection of the fact folks just can't recognize things to save their lives.

(Also, your occasional Mac Art is definitely top of my Best Depiction of Dog™ in Art History list. _Always_ makes my day.)

Nothing wrong with anything in this particular post.

Peterson does blow a lot of hot air to disguise his lack of substance. The best educators do put things in simple terms.

Hell, I spent quite a few years teaching, both kids and adults. Keeping things simple yet accurate is a hell of a skill.

Hot take: we don't know the whole story. The dude could be in chronic pain, be depressed, or be using the weed to self-medicate otherwise.

Remember folks, people venting have a tendency to omit anything that isn't conducive to their side of the story looking good.

(Or not, but hey - balance )

Indeed, a known phenomenon in linguistics, though criminally understudied as of right now.

Plenty of pet theories flying around with little enough evidence to support any particular one.

Long as it's the rich getting sunk, cool.

I'm gonna feel a bit more ambivalent about it when it's one of the "I sold everything I had and bought a tiny boat" liveaboard crowd that gets the business end of a playful orca.

"Check lore here" in the context of WH is pretty much a one-sentence horror story on its own. An utterly terrifying sequence of words, in a curiously atavistic way.

I imagine this is how ancient priests felt when trying to figure out how they've offended their cosmic horror of a god.
