The fence solved nothing for my community. It didn't house anyone. It didn't provide addiction or mental health services to anyone. Now that already unwelcoming park looks like a prison exercise yard.
Why wasn't community asked first? We have great ideas. Why a fence now? No answers for us tonight.

Many, perhaps a strong majority, of neighbors participating tonight came to say they don't want a fence. Seattle Parks & Recreation staff said they don't know who ordered the permanent fence. SPD officer didn't know. CARE team guy said he didn't know, but said ask Parks Superintendent AP Diaz.
