yeah exactly. And if you consider functionally- Whitehall was encouraging dependence on Argentina (YPF had the gas contract, the air link was LADE, the Spanish teachers in the schools were paid for by the Argentine government)

This is also why Operation Algeciras (if it had been executed) would have been completely legitimate. It would not have mattered that the target vessel was moored in Gibraltar. It still is a warship and would have been a legitimate target!

it’s also an indictment of the state of affairs today that an american ambassador publicly met with a convicted spy who did incalculable damage to american intelligence and we are supposed to be okay with it
