Thanks a bunch Grant! Creates a unique look 😊 Goal is to more closely imitate a cinematic camera including letterboxing and the whole schebang

Sure thing! Rocking a single directional light with its volumetric setting cranked up a bit (5+).
In the environment node, I enable SDFGI, make sure it does not read the sky light, and tweak min cell size to remove the black spots.
Turn on volumetric and tweak ro your liking.
Boom, done!

This type of lighting is actually relatively easy within Godot. All you see on screen are sprites from Aseprite or low poly models from Blockbench (no normals except on the floor). The rest comes from Godot's environment node and camera settings. I'd recommend looking into those!

Thanks a bunch Vinster!
So this lighting is achieved inside the Godot game engine - Would be hard to do in Aseprite alone 😅
Are you asking about the lighting as a whole, or the sprites specifically?
Oh, and good luck with your samurai!

You're absolutely right. These are enough for the proof of concept I need but should extend later.
Made a goal for myself to finish an MVP of an MVP of the main game loop. Got until the end of next week - We'll see how that goes😅
