We examined flies (mostly) collected in Sweden from about 1810 untill 1933, and used a non-destructive method to extract the DNA. Remarkably, we obtained almost complete genomes, a par in quailty with what you get out of contemporary flies, from these 200 year old crumpled up flies!

Adobe's Firefly AI image generator is impressive. Better than Midjourney in generating semi-accurate images of insects. Prompt: "Drosophila perched on a fruit, golden hour." Clearly, it did a poor job conjuring up a drosophila, but a solid job cranking out a generic looking Diptera.
