A very good read. As a one-stop primer on the oceans, the structure of the marine system the science behind it all this is an ideal introduction and useful adjunct reading for any Seapower course. On the list it goes.

Enjoyable, with informed speculation about how a permanent presence on the moon could unfold. 4 years after publication though the short term timeline is very dated already, even pre-pandemic 2020 the Artemis schedule was rather optimistic. Realistically add 10 years to any milestone.

A small museum, very pleasant though. Tells the story of Toulon naval base exceedingly well. Also located in proximity to a wide selection of restaurants on the harbour front.

With the 46 boat force in FY2030 already being a downgrade from the current force, way off from the 2016 plan, the US Navy's submarine force will be below target numbers for a generation and projections out to mid-century are at best aspirational.
