Looking forward to the reopening of San Francisco's Castro Theater. I used to haunt the place, sitting through film after film. After a major restoration, it opens February 6, screening Priscilla Queen of the Desert [though it's no longer a repertory house].

Mourning the loss of Chez Jacqueline, San Francisco's most unique restaurant. Stocky Jacqueline, grumbling while ceaselessly beating egg whites, as starters were served in the front room, before the parade of crab or lobster soufflés would arrive. The Grand Marnier soufflé was an enchanting dessert.
After 46 years, SF's one-of-a-kind French restaurant closes
