#UnrealEngine #PixelArt
The real turning point was when I tried Unity and I made an Android build by pressing a button and waiting a few minutes. Instead of having to maintain multi-platform parity, implementing different APIs per platform. Which absorbed weeks of effort at a time.

Alas, RIP Unity, using Unreal now.

Having done this I agree fully. Not because I didn't enjoy it, but because it takes up so much time I could be using to make games instead. I'm also not going to be able to feature pack the engine anywhere remotely near the levels of Unity or Unreal.

Perhaps an option that inverts the Run button into a Walk button?

Recently I've been rethinking how the game controls

We need MORE woodchippers.

😩

I should really show her that one too lmfao.

Legends 2 left me craving more and wishing for similar games. It's surprising to me that there don't seme to be any released Legends-like games today (that I am aware of anyway). It's one of those lost PS1 gems...

This completes our Mega Man Franchise Replay in Timeline Order!

The buff to lock-on and the nerf to free aiming makes lock-on by far the most effective way to fight in almost every situation. I think they should have re-balanced the free aiming to still have a small window of auto-aim at the very center, when you're "close enough".
November 14, 2025 at 5:59 PM
2 removed the auto-aim window, likely because you can manually aim in all directions with the dual analog style. It also lets you move around while locked-on. Both of these changes are a HUGE improvement, but...
November 14, 2025 at 5:59 PM
So in 1 it works like; With free aiming if you match the horizontal aim close enough it will auto-aim vertically for you. There is no other way to aim vertically without Lock-On, which has the huge drawback of immobilizing you.
November 14, 2025 at 5:59 PM
One key observation I had about the gameplay was that shooting *without* Lock-On was much more effective in 1. It has a small window of auto-aim that 2 removed. It's somewhat comparable to Doom's "elevation doesn't matter" quirk. This is because 1 doesn't let you free aim vertically.

I had more fun with Legends 2 than I expected. It's got some of it's own awkwardness going on but it plays MUCH more like a modern-ish third person game IF you use Control Style D (analog mode).

My wife is now pained immensely by 3's cancellation... One of us! One of us!

When people say Mega Man Legends art style is timeless they're NOT talking about 1... They're definitely talking about 2. The differences are HUGE, and easy to notice when you play them back to back.
November 14, 2025 at 5:59 PM
Oh my bad, I thought you did. Never mind then 😅

Not sure if you can replicate these settings on Windows.
November 13, 2025 at 4:31 AM
Just finished replaying Mega Man Legends 1 and 2. There is NOTHING like it anywhere else. It makes me sad.
November 13, 2025 at 4:05 AM
Exactly! Think about the balls it took to design a game like Resident Evil where you can screw yourself and have to start over for lack of items. Disregarding the RE resurgence, where are the big budget games today that dare to do things like that?? One of many lost qualities from the PS1 era.
November 13, 2025 at 4:04 AM
Been playing some PS1 lately so this is hitting right now.
November 13, 2025 at 3:03 AM
I love it!

And concerning color depth, the Deck's HDR mode makes the GBA games look WAY better than the PS5 version (tested on the same TV).
November 13, 2025 at 2:58 AM
If you intend to play them on Steam Deck (docked or portable) you can force the resolution higher to alleviate the uneven pixel scaling. Advanced and Dominus run at full speed in 4k even.

Also can finally remap L2 and R2. Unbelievable they didn't allow that normally.
