If it is fascism now it was fascism then but if you were wrong no need to pause to make a special effort to admit your error -- we don't have that much time now, please act right away, get organized, and then tell your followers what you are doing to stop fascism and what they too can do.

If anyone wants to read something to inspire some badass resistance fighting should it come to that, I recommend Outwitting the Gestapo by Lucie Aubrac. It’s about a pregnant history teacher fighting the good fight against the Nazis in France. Non-fiction.

Photo taken in almost the same location in my living room. I brought our darling Henry home today for the last time. The first photo is when my husband brought him home to me. He was so loved from the moment he came through our door. He was such a joy. I miss him.

CFNY/Edge was critical to my world in the 90s. It is where I found ‘my’ music when my friends were all into boy bands. I loved the drive back to uni on Sunday nights listening to The Ongoing History of New Music. Even when I went to Northern Ireland for my 3rd year and the internet still felt new,
In 1976, CFNY launched from a small suburban house just north of Toronto and went on to become one of the most influential punk, new wave, and alternative radio stations in the world.

"CFNY: The Spirit of Radio" premieres tomorrow at 9pm on TVO.

I’m watching Wake Up Dead Man. I’m fascinated by the lighting change when Blanc started talking about his lack of faith then the switch back when Judd started talking about his understanding of faith. Well done. 👏🏻

I’m watching Blast From the Past with my two youngest. A truly underrated Brenden Fraser movie. The only one more underrated is The Quiet American - he was excellent in that.

Ok the loon scene is hilarious #HeatedRivalry - we need a Jacob Tierney tv empire.

Putting the cinnamon buns to bed. I will take them out of the fridge in the morning and bake them as we are all getting up. These are for people who love brown sugar and butter.

My husband and I have a Christmas tradition and listen to The Shepherd told by ‘Fireside’ Al Maitland every Christmas Eve. If you like a Christmas ghost story then you will love this - www.cbc.ca/radio/asitha...
'Fireside' Al Maitland reads Frederick Forsyth's The Shepherd | CBC Radio
The year is 1957. An RAF pilot is heading home from Germany for Christmas. Fog sets in, and all radio communication is lost.

That is the perfect encapsulation of conservative policies. It doesn’t fix any dysfunction at all but allows those with means to skirt around it making them feel like they are more deserving of services due to all of us.
"monetize the dysfunction" is the perfect explanation of our time.
Zohran: "I mean, think about when you fly.  We have made it such a difficult experience to go through TSA that there's now a financial incentive to sign up for a separate program that can move you through it quicker. We have monetized the dysfunction."

I picked out my dog’s urn today. His footprints are still in the snow in some places in the yard. I miss being pestered for attention. I always gave it to him because he deserved all the cuddles he ever wanted. This was him not that long ago on my lap while I was working.

Losing your 7 year old dog two weeks before Christmas to a heart tumour is horrible. He was just a little boy. We’ve lost our two other dogs but they were an old man and old lady. We had time to process that their time was coming. Our boy was fine on Saturday and gone on Sunday. He was so loved.

I am utterly heartbroken. My beloved darling boy, Henry, has passed away suddenly. One of his many nicknames was Sweet Dog because he was so gentle and loving. He will be so missed by my whole family. He was such a beautiful boy and I adored him. Cuddle your furry beloveds a little extra today.

As loathsome as Pierre Poilievre is, I hope he can hang onto leadership so he can keep soiling the Conservative Party which will keep them out of government. If he squeaks through his review I wonder how many MPs will cross the floor?

Disney has hiked prices and laid off hundreds of workers this year.

Yet Disney paid its CEO $41B in 2024. It just reported a 36% increase in net profits for parks and streaming. And it plans to double stock buybacks next year.

Remember this as Disney turns to AI.

The Life and Murder of Étienne Brûlé is up on the podcast today! Maybe I’m just a weird history nerd but I’ve been fascinated by his story since I first heard it in grade 7. #canadianhistory

It’s that time of year! The dog is confused about the forbidden indoor plumbing his dad just dragged in. Sorry Henry, you still have to do the yellow snow plan we discussed.

I should mention this is part 1 of 2. The exiting conclusion to this story will come out next week!!!
The colony may have been small in 1640 but that didn’t stop Acadia from being the grounds of one of the most dramatic stories I’ve ever read about early Canadian history. Move over Madeleine de Verchères and Laura Secord and make way for Françoise-Marie Jacquelin!
