Then we interpret them under the perspective of topological codes and their anyons, what allows us to extend this strategy to other encodings. We also give an embedding of our approach under the 6.6.6 color code to show that is a quite flexible strategy.

In our paper, we first find two new local encodings for spinless and spinful systems embedding them in the surface codeand find a strategy to grow their distance.

Each fermion-to-qubit encoding has an error correction code naturally associated. While using this feature for error correction seems the right way to go for fault-tolerant approach or post-selection on NISQ+ devices, the fixed distance of previous encodings would limit this.
