I wonder, for example, what @diplo.de and other German ministries are still doing there.

Presumably they wouldn't give interviews to a far-right news outlet that occasionally denies the Holocaust in its editorials - but they keep creating content for X?

Certainly, among my own Spanish friends and acquaintances there's also no one who would have any sympathy for Franco and his regime.

But that's anecdotal evidence, of course, which is different from a representative survey.

In diesem Zusammenhang: Das @verfassungsblog.de leistet wirklich großartige Arbeit, um zu verstehen, wie ein Angriffsplan auf die deutsche Demokratie aussehen könnte und wie wir uns dagegen vorbereiten können.

At the same time, this means that I will be available for new projects.

So if you have an exciting idea that requires the expertise of someone specialising in supranational democracy, EU institutional reform, and the why and wherefore of European integration in general: please get in touch!

Back in May 2024, I commented here how far-right parties could benefit from having a "further-right" party that helped made them appear moderate in comparison.

Im this sense, ESN is for the PfE today what ID was for the ECR then.
For a far-right party, having a further-right party can be very useful in order to appear more moderate and become normalised into the political mainstream.

So far, ID has been the further-right to the ECR's far-right. Now, Le Pen wants to make the AfD the further-right and get normalised herself.

Very good thread by @onethuthree.bsky.social on this 👇
Today, the conservatives (EPP) passed a major piece of EU legislation with the far-right groups in the EU Parliament, marking the breakdown of the cordon sanitaire. The EPP, under Weber, has decided to sacrifice long-term principles and stability for short-term political gains.
