Lastly, the USA has ample wealth to help ALL children, teens and adults with special needs, mental health issues, & job training. We don't have an economic system which values every human; instead we have an economic & social system designed to protect the wealth of the mega-rich. 8)

I worked with parents who were diagnosed with autism when their child was evaluated for social and language delays. They realized their personal and work struggles were due to undiagnosed autism. Once they received specialized help, they functioned better in the workplace and social places. 7)

One of my students benefited from a skilled life coach who helped him navigate the social world of high school. He was smarter then the average person, hardworking, kind, compassionate, and resilient. He has a BS degree & works in a hospital & another student owns a computer repair business. 6)

When I worked with special needs children, my focus was to help identify strengths and deficits then provide specialized help to address the deficits. Autism, ADHD, mild cognitive delays, learning disabilities labels are necessary to obtain services BUT they should NOT be used to define a person. 5)

Both general and special ed teachers need specific training in autism so more children on the spectrum can function well in a gen. ed class. There was a time when people on the spectrum would be called weird, anti-social, awkward and they had special interests. 4)

Most children with mild/moderate autistic spectrum a.k.a Aspergers Disorder require a range of services based on their social, communication, and/or emotional issues. Speech & language therapists are KEY to helping children/adults with ASD; they help children break the social-communication code. 3)

Students with severe autism can not be educated in a general education class; they require individual & small group instruction, PT, OT, Speech and Language therapy, sometimes feeding therapy & a 12 month school program.

Aging parents can not care for most children with severe autism. 2)

I worked with special needs children for thirty years. There is a profound difference between severe autism & the majority with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder diagnosis. The cost of educating a child and caring for an adult with severe autism can be in the high five to six digits. 1)

According to privileged SCOTUS, it's preferably okay to racial profile. The only time SCOTUS majority cares about are the desires of their King, the aristocrats aka corporations & White Christian Nationalists and white men.
