Today I learned that the magpies that I fear during the month of September are completely different to the magpies in Europe. Same name, different species. Odd that the naming people couldn't come up with a different word. Like... Magpie and "Psycho Murder bird".

5-room dungeon design 2/2:
1 Ice block with a door inside. 2 - Empty room with 7 blocks of ice. Move them to correct spots. 3 - A fire is triggered and begins to melt a block trapping the monster. 4 - Monster wakes up and battles. 5 - Magic Sword is revealed. #dungeons #osr #ttrpg #dnd

Quick Spells using Wikipedia - "Heraclius Constantine" - You produce a a childlike ball of a material in reach. It runs around until it has completed - a kiss, a shattering of something and a coughing fit that sprays disease. #ttrpg #dnd #osr #magic

Rolling dice is part of the fun. Why collect 105 dice if not? I ran a one shot that included - rolling for gambling / darts / a made up game - rolling to see how many copper pieces - 1D20 X 2D12 =. What other ways have you encouraged players just to roll? #dnd #ttrpg #osr

Even though one of the documents I planned for #hexcrawl25 isn’t done, the main assignment is. Behold _The Apocalyptic Portal of Delta Pavonis II_: wordmanward.itch.io/delta-pavoni...

The world I built has _Thundarr_ vibes, if you want them.

Free as always.

Some of the beauty of dragon friends is when one of them mispronounces simple
English and it becomes a bit. “Stoots”

Everyone is so friendly at jakarta airport
Apparently one of its names is a rude word in Lithy. :)

First flight. Four hours of dragon friends podcast and trying to sleep. Not sure how successful. But. Dragon friends is solid gold. #travelshome #shouldhavewornshorts

The balance of staying tired to sleep on the plane and staying awake enough to read. The struggle is real. #travelshome

One lady FaceTiming her family out loud. Five friends drinking. Some chip packets crinkling. And the PA is looking for “keen dick” what a trip. #travelshome

First airport. It’s new. Named after a musician. All staff are super friendly. Border control were smooth like butter. And now to wait two hours in this tiny room. No coffee allowed. We are doing jet lag avoidance right. #travelshome

Has anyone written or found an adventure module based on the Icelandic Yule Lads? I feel like this is a missed opportunity to create one of the better christmas themed battle royales? #osr #ttrpg #dnd

5 things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.5 - I learned more Baltic history, town and river names, battle formations, mythology, pantheons and more than I ever thought I could. I have impressed locals with this knowledge, and I am excited to learn even more. Makes me appreciate good museum curators.

5 things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.4 - This is a very niche side of a niche hobby that my parents don't understand, but they are proud of my efforts and my Mum did some calligraphy for a module. My wife refers to it collectively as my "pencil stuff" and she is sad when I don't do it.

Five things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.3 - What needs to be written to run it vs what needs to be written for someone else to run it. I have written multi session adventure lines that were 4 dot points on the back of a receipt. Happily making up stuff as I went.

Five things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.2 - The value of well purposed factions. The why, the how, the when, the back story. Factions can be such a game changer for everything and are perfect for a location based adventure. Every run through is different.

At the start of #hexcrawl25 I thought - "This won't take long" I finished the overview by August, the actual work began. This may take years to "finish". Maybe the point was never to "finish" But just to make. To write, draw, imagine, create bowls for amazing soup stories to reside in.

Five things I learned b/c of #hexcrawl25 no.1 - How to draw maps. Until this year I have drawn maps, but never ones that were good looking. Just practical lines for me to follow as the GM. This year I drew many different styles for different locations and am quite proud of some of my output.

My years long process of getting my drivers license for the second time has ended. Yesterday I drove my self to pick up the physical card and when I returned home I felt like I was on drugs. I may have missed this feeling of freedom.

Monday Moan - Why would you set up a new platform for hundreds of people to use, then spend months in training, but when the day comes to swap everything to that platform, I can't log in? How was that the stick in the mud? I am trying my best to do good. Just give me the tools. What's your moan?
