Siphoning hundreds of millions in grants from so-called philanthropic organizations probably has some bearing on the degree to which people overlook biases.

One has to wonder how many parallels can be drawn from the 1930s tax policy qua tariffs when there’s an intent to weaponize trade actions for non-economic aims. There’s also the erosion of trust that comes with reneging on binding agreements.

You have wonder whether critics of climate policy truly believe the science and economics or are just willing to sell the farm in support of short-term gain. Maybe we should ask what the opportunity cost is of not having a carbon price? Are ineffiecient regulations truly better?

What's stopping cities from allowing 3+ bedroom apartments, specifically? Why not just update the building and zoning codes?

Oh agree, don’t see the riding shifting either and it’s essentially the same story across many rural Ontario regions. Really noticeable when you drive Hwy 7 or Bancroft/ Minden toward the non gentrified parts of Bruce Peninsula (the class contrast north of Toronto is startling imo).

Originally from eastern Ontario (near Spencerville) and still have a network tied to the region. I've been surprised recently what some folks are saying who they'd support. (I don't know how "average Canadian" they are given most Canadians reside in urban areas).
