I feel like a lot of people forget that Farke’s first season with us was an average mid-table finish… and then he lost the first four games in a row of his second season here. After that, we went onto win the title that year. Sometimes that just takes a bit of patience! Success isn’t always instant.

Very true. I remember a lot of criticism of Sargent in his first season with us; now he is a huge figure for the club! There are elements of our fanbase who are always way too quick to judge — both with players and with managers (remember the ‘Farke Out’ crowd?).

Yes, emphasis followed by a short vowel. Other three syllable words wouldn’t necessarily truncate in the same way.

‘Heaven’ is exactly the one I had in mind; specifically the first line of the second verse of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing: ‘Christ by highest heaven adored’. Yes, scansion and flow is rather more nuanced than just adding up the syllables. Nonetheless, this was an atrocious effort.

Doesn’t have to be. I have no issue with this. (Plenty of traditional Christmas carols or other hymns do similar, where the second verse will squeeze rhythms up like this to accommodate different lyrics; it still flows absolutely fine.)

I’m OK with the first two lines. After that? Appalling.
