Cheers mate, was a bit unexpected! The OBP was a real stunner, and the Dusky Warbler showed so much better than I expected. Hoping for a day at Spurn or Flamborough on Saturday if the easterlies hold the next couple of days.

That's an absolutely remarkable day and you did well not to give up as hypothermia set in! I'm an incredibly slow cyclist, I'd have missed the LEO for sure! Thanks for the kind comments too.

That's a proper bird race! I took part in the Chorley one a couple of times in the late 90s and that was an early May one, but I don't think we ever got much above 95 species. Would be easier with a coast!

Thanks Jeremy - I always follow the sightings from the Yorkshire race with interest.

Cheers mate!

We've a returning male RND in St Helens, but it's my only local one.

Really glad you got it. Something of a bogey bird of mine, having missed half a dozen at Spurn and Flamborough over the last few years. I love South Gare - I've seen a few great birds there.

Cheers mate. Jealous of the OBP you had today - hopefully sticks around for late morning jaunt for me.

It's no contest for me, I've seen 5 Lesser Scaup in Manchester and Lancashire in the last 18 months, plus the Abberton pair and other birds; and only 4 RND nationally in that time.

That is mad. They seem to be the most frequent American duck over the last 12 months, even more than American Wigeon.

Worth it! I cheered as loudly for them as I did for the Black-winged Kite in summer 😄
Perhaps delirium had set in by that point...

Seems to have been a bumper year for them - there have been at least two male birds at Pennington Flash this year, along with other individuals in west Manchester.

Thanks mate. I wish I had your fitness - the last two miles yesterday almost finished me off!

You say that... but... 😄

Outstanding mate, you've had a superb year!

Maybe avoid sand dunes... 😄

Strange that we only saw a single House Sparrow (and four Tree for comparison) and missed out on Rook, GS Woodpecker and Greylag altogether. Triple figures of migrating Redpoll was a real surprise at Cutacre and a flock of 6 Yellowhammers must be the entire Little Woolden population together.

Take it easy mate, hope the hip recovers soon.
