And also: 2011 me gave this a 2.5 and I was DEAD WRONG--but I understand why, because 2011 me wasn't old enough to drink, and this is Grown Folks Music. Listening to this now, at age thirty-three, on the MetroNorth heading back to suburban Connecticut, and yeah. I get it. This is Ben Folds's middle-aged downer album, but it's also a document of the beauty that can come from maturity. Which is a long way of saying that, as the father of a one-year-old girl, "Gracie" can send me into floods of tears if I'm not careful.

You know the TV trope where there's an angel & devil on your shoulder trying to convince you to act as they would like? This is what I feel like having bought a stuff capybara sort of for myself ("I'll have my partner give it to me for xmas") but knowing I should probably give it to my niece
