I'm Johnny. I write songs and record talented musicians for a Milwaukee music project called MALEDICTIS
(https://maledictis.bandcamp.com).

Tell me about your passions, projects, and who your favorite Golden Girl is.
Look at this handsome fuck.

Joey Jojo Shabadoo, rockin’ the MALEDICTIS sticker in the wild!

The quote of the evening: “MALEDICTIS; for fans of… dot dot dot.” 🤣

As a teen with ADHD, I struggled to read—until I found “Greek Mythology” by Richard Stoneman. Its short entries let me read on my own terms. It was the first book that showed me I could enjoy reading. I just needed a format that matched how my brain works.

Give your daughters metal band t-shirts covered in skulls to earn “cool dad” points.

@geologyrecords.bsky.social dug out my dad’s tape deck. It’s a #VectorResearch so nothing too fancy… but crazy that it works because it’s older than I am and I don’t fully work.

My mother swiped a bunch of these paper coasters from the Polynesian back in the 80s. I inherited them, not really knowing their purpose until now: to take a pic and respond to your post. #nostalgia

I bought this #cassette tape of Wynton Marsalis’ “Marsalis Standard Time—Volume I” for $1.99

Jazz is over my head, but I can pretend to understand it while I drink my morning coffee.

Chicago’s [70’s] greatest hits.
My dad had this CD in the 80s but I’ve never owned or listened to the vinyl until today.

The zenith of Internet enjoyment for me was using WebCrawler to find the Xena Warrior Princess website.

I just looked on a disk I inherited and found scans of old photos I've never seen before. This is me.

Trying to do as much as I can with only two absorption panels in a large room.

I’ve been diving into “Lily’s” lately. An entire bar is only 5 digestible carbs.

It’s supposed to say “…and talking too much.” But I think everyone knows I’m a talker.

Doing stuff at Shane Olivo Audio. Mostly just screwing around, drinking tea, and taking too much.

Building bass trap absorption panels using Rockwool Safe’n’Sound, cheap pine, and really cheap burlap. These are two batts thick, which should handle lower frequencies better than my other single batt panels.

That said, I’m feeling optimistic. My main goal is songwriting, and I think I now have the tools to do that. I just need to get used to some new, easier fingerings.

If Billy Joel wrote a Goth Metalcore album, I think it would check every box for me.
Anyway… here’s our copy of the vinyl record of The Stranger. I give it 7 out of 9 slaps. 👋 👋 👋 👋 👋 👋 👋

Found this in my mother-in-law’s record collection. Is this an official country western album? I just finished side A and so far it sounds like something that would be listened to by those ranchers who hate NYC in the Pace Picante Sauce ads.

My mobile #recording rig vs my office rig. Both were meant to be for #RemoteRecording, but I get lazy about taking the rack gear anywhere. Like, the M2 is bus-powered, for crying out loud.
I enjoy recording in tall-ceilinged churches, historic buildings, unique spaces, and golden-ratioed offices.
