posts from nyanjutsu.bsky.social I used AI to create some pictures, a sin for which I can never atone in the eyes of some. While the reaction is not surprising, it *is* concerning. The following thread is not a defense of AI, but rather a commentary on the dark side of human nature and pack mentality. The reality is that these tools are only going to get better, and the "tell-tale signs" of AI-generated images will begin to disappear. It will become harder for even a very critical eye to tell the difference. If you accuse someone of using generative AI, are you prepared one day to be wrong? To be clear, I AM NOT A VICTIM, because I did in fact use AI. Do not interpret this thread as "woe is me." Someone identified various indicators in those images, and the community reacted accordingly. But we as a society must reckon with the fact that it will not be so easy one day. The accusation of being generatd by AI could kill the reputation of a legitimate and perhaps freshly starting artist who did something that an accuser thought looked "wrong" or if they did their own take on a character's design and it didn't match up exactly with the standard model. Even if the target of the accusation showed evidence, like works in progress, would you believe them? As the tools improve, could those not also be generated? Even if they were believed, the damage would have already be done; many users would have turned on them and spread the accusation as fact.
