Not that there’s anything wrong with that… There’s certainly a place for it! It’s just recognizing that what is important to me isn’t necessarily where they’re at as a person at present

In a somewhat similar sense, I’ve had a lot of success meeting / building relationships with some of my favorite musicians by simply asking how their current tour is going or even just about their day, rather than gushing about the album they made 20 years ago

Dying causes players to think about what they're doing.

An "impossible" situation causes players to learn how the game works and eventually achieve the impossible.

We need to be able to design *some* games around these fundamental ideas.
