He's trying to trigger a response so he CAN start a war with Venezuela. That will then allow him to capture Venezuelan oil and that will stop it from being sold to China... their effort to stop Russia from selling its additives to Venezuela didn't work.

You would think she might have empathy for a teenager caught in Ghelaine's web of lies considering she has a teenage daughter. I just rewatched BOMBSHELL, and even there she's depicted as someone who would put her career over doing what's right.
