How is it spam? How is it stealing attention? If I have 1.3k followers that I got by whatever means, how is that distracting to you? Please elaborate?
My boost to exposure doesn't mean I'm drowning out celebrities or media accounts. I just get seen by slightly more people.

for one, the notifications alone take attention. second, it creates a race towards the bottom where everyone has to follow spam or be penalized. third, we instinctively evaluate accounts based on follower number

by the way i don't think follow spam accounts should be banned, unless there are really clear rules. rather clear limits or hiding spammy follows would be the best solution

now is the perfect moment to see how much engagement I get when I'm not actively collecting followers. i bet much lower as most of my followers are follow spammers following way too many accounts to see what I write other than upon first visit. but let's see. like and comment if you see this ;)

a little ironic that most of my followers are actually follow spammers, practice this account was born to criticize (and copy...). can't blame them tho, given the current incentives

obsly making followers number go up is a lot easier than getting *quality* followers that will actually engage and see your posts

btw if you have > 1k followers you can see the exact number by clicking on followers. also note that the the actual list displayed is shorter as it will not include suspended, blocked and deleted accounts

uh ok. i'm a little scared going this extreme. and i hope to be getting higher quality followers than this. his engagement numbers are.. quite bad

day 5 log: followed 4.5k accounts in total (unfollowed many again), i now have 897 followers, and am blocked by 93 accounts (tip: you can check this, for any account, on clearsky.app )

hiding follows that are suspicious from notifications would already help a lot. or from account that are following too aggressively
