I'm going to have to triple-check the scene titles in what I'm working on aren't included when I export it from Scrivener.

Reader: Is this work influenced by Blade Runner?
Me: No.
Reader: are you sure? Isn't that what J F Sebastian says when he gets home?

We’ve been clearing out our years of paper tat and I saved this Radio Times purely to do this photo.

After a mere 16 years, @markclapham.bsky.social and I have finally sorted our separate Doctor Who magazines into one run.

Looking forward to more McCoy-influenced UK military names.

45/n The Quantity Theory of Insanity by Will Self.

A reread for the first time since the 1990s. It really struck me that I remembered each twist in the first few stories. The last two still feel anti-climactic. The idea of a collection of interlocking stories remains hugely influential on me.

Just walking around muttering “vacuum vacuum vacuum” today.

Watching the 2002 Hound of the Baskervilles and talking about how post-treatment would colour-grade it now. And probably remove the boom mic operator in the far left of the frame.

The quoted goat and image is from 2024*.

Sergeant Bill of the 5th Infantry Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, who served in WW1 and was court-marshalled twice, would like a word.**

This filled crepe is so filled that I feel like I don’t need to eat until at least Tuesday.

The other thing to note is that my go-to book for simple bakes is…this bookclub book for kids.

It is exceptionally hard to go wrong following a recipe written for kids.

Celebrating by baking my first New York cheesecake.

44/n Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde.

A coming of age memoir that explores different layers of otherness, and how to find a way through that.

Thanks to @kateorman.bsky.social for the rec!

Ours goes out just before dusk, and vanishes again once the first aggressive teen horde is spotted.

I got a full yowl of despair when I got up but did not IMMEDIATELY feed her.

OK, I need practical UK advice. What kind of hose connection do I need for this old tap?

The end bit comes off.

I’m trying to attach a modern hose reel which in turn attaches to a pressure washer.

Right now it leaks when on and if I up the pressure the hose blows off the tap.

Dusk on the Riviera Line last week, between Exeter and Starcross. If you look east at dusk, the sunset may be briefly reflected by the sky, which is then reflected by the river (tides permitting).
