Sounds like something we can utilise in our metaproteomics work! We have protein fastas with several millions of sequences from metagenomics.

It is way faster with a normal logbook and a pen. Sometimes the old school simple approach is the best 😊

We have an in-house solution with QR codes to scan by phones, just as you envisage. It works great, and bills different projects automatically but everyone "hates" it. It is a nightmare when you are there in the lab with your gloves on and need to pull out your personal phone, scan and type in.

Have not heard anyone saying holoproteome yet, nor hologenome. People tend to say the proteome of the holobiont = host proteome + metaproteome
