Tejano slacker trash. Hipster doofus. Face like a frying pan.
This is workin’ for me at the moment.

5x4 this week. We're in the Nineties now! Mostly '90 and '91, to be specific. Gathered some classics from hip hop, jazz, and ambient house as well as lone representatives of trip-hop, dancehall/ragga, and new age/Celtic folk.

Yo! It's this week's 4x4! I've made it to the end of the Eighties. This time, I checked out a bunch of hip hop and dance classics as well as the usual jazz, art rock/pop, and avant-garde curios.

5x4 this week: a mid-80's survey(?) of ambient/minimalism, jazz, hip hop, reggae, and Tom Waits. I also managed to sneak in some house at the eleventh hour.

5x4 this week. Continuing thru the Eighties, this time in '81 and '82. Still on my art rock/jazz/electronic/reggae bullshit with the slight addition of hip hop and R&B.

4x4 this week. Twelve albums from 1980; two EPs and two singles from 2025. All good for the most part. Some, even great if you can believe it.

5x5 for the week! Plenty of art rock and post-punk with sides of reggae, electronica, jazz, and more... All from the late '70s. Rounded out the final row with recent K-Pop and J-Pop releases as per usual.

4x4 for the week. A bit hodgepodge -- some krautrock/early electronica, some jazz fusion, and some reggae. All from '75/'76 except for the new ITZY, but you knew that already I'm sure.

4x4 for the week! A lot of art rock and krautrock this time as well as some recent releases to fill out the grid. Only two more batches until I'm finally out of the Seventies.

Another 5x4 this week. More jazz, more folk, more art rock... but also: a dash of reggae and Brazilian pop. Not pictured though is Larks' Tongues in Aspic, thanks Topster.

5x4 this week featuring a considerable amount of folk/singer-songwriter, some jazz, some art rock, and even a bit of salsa!

4x4 for the week. Continuing my journey with more jazz, folk, and avant-garde/experimental records, this time from 1969. Next week: '70 and '71!
September 12, 2025 at 12:45 AM
5x5(!) for the week: an assortment of folk, jazz, Brazilian pop, classical, and experimental/avant-garde stuff. A pretty good week, in other words!

Early 4x4 this week. Sixties jazz classics with Ravi Shankar and Françoise Hardy on the side.

4x4 for the week. After being in the indie rock weeds for most of the year, I needed a change. So for the next month or so, I have a bunch of non-rock albums for my uncultured self to sift thru. I started off with some jazz classics and a splash of mid-century avant-garde plus some pop as a treat.

3x3 for the week. Another chill week with a light load of albums to listen through: the end of Ozzy's era w/ Sabbath, Dio's first round with Sabbath, and a bunch of odds and sods from Paul McCartney (note: I've listened to McCartney II before, but not the B-sides and outtakes on the Archive edition)
August 15, 2025 at 10:53 PM
3x3 for this week. Taking things slow by catching up on everyone's favorite McCartney projects.
