There are even mods to turn the game into a modern Platinum clone. You know, the game they should have remade.

I don't think that story is going to work from a one-to-one remake point of view.
Yusuke is problematic, but I think can be smoothed over with a few minor changes.
Teddy is almost irredeemable and needs a complete rewrite.
And given I played this game this year, I don't have nostalgia glasses on.
