Not a huge fan of this redesign but I voted for option 3. @wmata.com

Three designs for the new 8000 series DC metro cars. Option 1 is all steel with an oversized brown M. Option 2 has the traditional brown stripe with a smaller white M inside the stripe. Option 3 is the same as 2 but with the M in steel.

Housing affordability will not improve without a concerted focus on increasing the pace of single-family and multifamily construction. New home construction is not a cure-all for a lack of affordable housing supply. Because of the elevated cost of construction, much of this new supply is unlikely to be considered affordable for many households. Nevertheless, when a new home is occupied by a renter or owner who can afford to move, their prior home is now available for other buyers or renters.

America’s overall population density is completely irrelevant to this discussion. What is relevant is the density (current and desired) of the land between Minneapolis and St. Paul, which is the 16th largest metro area in the US by population. Here’s a density map from the US census:

This is a “we’ve tried nothing and we’re out of ideas” mentality. We can have high quality transit if we invest in it rather than giving up on it. Also FWIW, cars are more dangerous:
