Rent and food doesn't cost less because you are under 25. Instead, it takes up a larger proportion of most young earners income.

The @scottishgreens.org want to see a real living wage, which increases with inflation every year.

@carersscotland.bsky.social are developing a 'Caring for Carers' roadshow in 2026/27.

The roadshows will offer a range of information, support, opportunities for peer connection & access to local services. They want input from unpaid carers to ensure it meets their needs.

Last week I had the honour of being installed as the Rector of @dundee.ac.uk. I spoke about the value of education to society. I was also pleased to engage with activists in Aberdeen and campaigners for sex workers' rights.

Delighted to join the North Sea Knitters outside of a very chilly Parliament today to protest #Rosebank.

In the week where the Parliament took evidence on the catastrophic impact of 4° warming, it is inspiring to join with innovative campaigners who can offer us all hope.

Today, on #TDOR, we honour and mourn all the trans people whose lives were taken by hatred, violence and neglect.

Their lives mattered. Their futures mattered.

With courage and solidarity, we will build a future where every trans person is free to thrive.

Last week, @ducuuo.bsky.social staff were on strike, @scottishgreens.org called on Parliament to say no to fossil fuel extraction from the #Rosebank oil field, & thousands joined the climate march in Glasgow. I also heard from Generations Working Together & others promoting social justice.

I'm pretty old (71), so I remember clearly the National Front in the 1970s. They were pariahs that the main political parties wouldn't touch with a 10ft pole. What is shocking is that the LABOUR party is now coming out with the same policies. What on earth would the likes of Benn, Foot etc. think?
No, I'd say it's racists and those pandering to them.

🌍 42.5m refugees
Over 70% of them are hosted by low- and middle-income countries.

🇬🇧 548k refugees
= 0.78% of the UK population.

It is not refugees who tear our country apart, it is the mainstreaming of far right policies. And that’s a risk to all of us.

My letter to my MP.

This is contemptible from Labour!

Immigrants make phenomenal contributions to life in the UK - working in pretty much every sector, bringing cultural diversity & creativity to our society.

This scapegoating must stop!
Labour must stop pandering to the far right!

This report by @hrw.org is just as harrowing today as when it was published a year ago.
Perhaps even more so, because, despite the so-called ceasefire, Palestinians continue to be murdered by the apartheid Israeli regime.

War crimes must be challenged!
Free Palestine!
“Hopeless, Starving, and Besieged”
The 154-page report, “‘Hopeless, Starving, and Besieged’: Israel’s Forced Displacement of Palestinians in Gaza,” examines how Israeli authorities’ conduct has led to the displacement of over 90 percent of the population of Gaza—1.9 million Palestinians—and the widespread destruction of much of Gaza over the last 13 months. Israeli forces have carried out deliberate, controlled demolitions of homes and civilian infrastructure, including in areas where they have apparent aims of creating “buffer zones” and security “corridors,” from which Palestinians are likely to be permanently displaced. Contrary to claims by Israeli officials, their actions do not comply with the laws of war.

Glad to be able to pop by the @ducuuo.bsky.social picket line as they were just getting set up this morning.
Staff are on strike in the cold & damp to say NO to compulsory redundancies. Management must engage with staff properly: co-design a recovery plan, do not impose cuts!

As the UK Budget draws ever closer, many fear that public services we all rely on will be cut.
But the Chancellor could generate billions of ££ for our NHS, social care, education - just by ending the tax breaks Big Pharma gets now.
Make your voice heard:
Sign the petition: End the tax break for big pharma like GlaxoSmithKline at the Autumn budget
While the NHS is at breaking point, Britain's biggest pharmaceutical companies are receiving BILLIONS in tax breaks - enough is enough, sign the petition calling for Rachel Reeves to end the tax breaks for Big pharma:

Recently I talked to a woman who had been raped about cross examination. She went into a catatonic state for 15 mins, then asked me to hold her hand, and then began to cry. We discussed whether she should refuse to give evidence - even though it would mean he got off.

And now this 👇🏻
