DC-based technical analyst, I study that which should never be used. All opinions my own, but you probably shouldn't trust me anyways.
We need to bring this back tbh

Heck, the *soviet union* couldn't solve its housing shortage without bringing back some amount of private development

I think you need to update your assumptions. Much of this was true in the 1990s but China is a fundamentally different country today. (Not to mention you're changing the subject when the prior post was pretty conclusive about why we know it didn't come from a lab)

Like, Wuhan has a bigger population than Chicago. It'd be the third largest city in the US! Do all these brainiacs really think "ermagerd there's bio research labs there so the evil chinese must have screwed up" as opposed to hey, it's a big city with a LOT of people and close to bat caves? So dumb
December 14, 2025 at 5:54 AM
The idea that a chinese megacity can't have research labs without it being some sophisticated plot is frankly just racism tbh. Turboracism because Wuhan isn't a city most westerners had ever heard of!

Honestly it's not hard. The only real evidence for a lab leak is "there's a lab in the same city where it started" and that's about it. Most leak truthers don't even get the *correct* lab in their version of the story (there are two labs nearby, only one of which received funding for GoF research!)

TIL that the only important measure of warships is how big they are

Trader Joe's are usually located in walkable areas, hence why they have small parking lots. That's the point of the thread.

Isn't this basically the plot of Doom?

Companies decide it's literally easier to harvest energy from hell than stop endless economic growth+exploitation

Alas, this has been a bugaboo in the right-wing farm bureau types for a few years now. I don't know what they want; Mexico can't magically appirate water from nowhere and the drought has absolutely wiped out entire crops of their sugarcane.

I guess we must just want them to suffer for no reason.
December 9, 2025 at 4:03 AM
I'm sorry but half my family farms and this is just simply not true. Yeah, the old stuff is more reliable overall, but the modern tech is worth the cost/maintenance!

My grandma lived through extreme poverty in her 20s and nearly became a hoarder as a result- she was so resistant to throwing things away she used old underwear elastic as a head sweatband in the summer. Super common for windows of that generation!

The *very fact* that we can argue what the meaning/intent is shows that it's functionally arbitrary tbh.

If the choice is one of "cruelty" or "civil rights and a diverse society" then the only real question for these pseudo-intellectuals is "which side are you on"

"Each Javelin round costs $80,000, and the idea that it's fired by a guy who doesn't make that in a year at a guy who doesn't make that in a lifetime is somehow so outrageous it almost makes the war seem winnable."

Are you sure about this? I pulled the numbers and they seem way too low for the amount of population growth in those years

Like, I agree that this isn't a catastrophic step for our democracy, but it's a massive tool that opens up the door to deporting far more people

In the same way that the death penalty defangs officer-involved shootings, it sets the standard we can deport citizens and the courts assume good faith!
