Artist. I like pin-up girls and interesting cinema. Love comic books (i dont care about comic book movies though). Jess Franco, Lucio Fulci, Mario Bava, Terrence Malick and Powell/ Pressburger are my movie gods.
Visually, Batwoman is a character who could never really be pulled off in live action. She's so striking. You can put an actress in a wig and costume, but she'll never be as impressive as what's on the printed page. Such a brilliant design. That red. Gorgeous.

My favorite comic couple. Loving, healthy, supportive, looking great together in their Jack Kirby duds. I also love that Barda is twice Scott's size - it's cute whenever she picks him up or hugs him.

I've always loved Tigra. I will never apologize for it. Ever since I was a kid, seeing her for the first time in Les Daniels' Marvel: Five Fabulous Decades of the World's Greatest Comics and going "wow. who is that wonderful, bikini-clad Cat-girl?"

Maybe that's the real punk rock"

I've known many angsty ass-hats ( a lot of Batman fans) who shit on Superman for being "Too good" (whatever that even means), so that element of the movie really felt validating to me. Being good is what we need right now, collectively. Being nicer to eachother.

Had a terrible last few days, so I decided to see Superman again, to lift me up. Saw this little guy and asked "How much for the doggy in the window". They were sold out, but the manager flagged me down to tell me he'd save the display one for me. Made my Week. I have a KRYPTO!

Siegel and Shuster based Clark Kent on Harrold Lloyd. Christopher Reeve was inspired by Cary Grant in Bringing up Baby. I never really thought about it, but Superman (1978) is a bit of a screwball comedy, isn't it? All of the Clark/ Lois stuff would feel right at home with Preston Sturges.

All-Star Batman & Robin is a guilty pleasure. While I'm sure it wasn't Miller's intent, I think of it as a parody of what people THINK Batman is - Drimdark, macho bullshit, Batman as a cold and unfeeling creature who only lives to wage war by any means necessary. It's hilarious.

My favorite issues of All-Star Superman. The last 3 affect me VERY deeply -

Issue #3 - "Sweet Dreams, Superwoman"
Issue #6 - "Funeral in Smallville"
Issue #10 - "Neverending"
Issue #12 - "Superman in Excelsis"

All-Star Superman is a comic that makes me full-on ugly cry.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold is the greatest DC Comics adaptation. Nothing comes close, in terms of scope or affection for the source material. The deepest cuts, references that will go over the heads of some of the most devout comic fans, a literal who's who of the DCU. 80 + years of history.

A Superman adaptation is only as good as its depiction of Lois Lane. I'll die on that hill. Both Superman Returns and Man of Steel had the blandest depictions of that character. I'm gonna need some sass from my Lois, thank you.

Side note- I think Rachel is going to be amazing.

Seeing Cat Grant in the Superman trailer made me very happy. Superman has an iconic supporting cast, and it's nice to see the Daily Planet staff represented. Cat Grant is instantly recognizable. A very fun character.

The Bronze-Age purple and green suit is still Lex Luthor's best look. That's a hill I'm willing to die on.

Listening to a Fantastic Four retrospective on youtube, where they asked who the best replacement FF member was. It's Jen. Obviously. Not even close. Any other answer is objectively incorrect. She's the one. Even Spidey felt like a temp stand-in, where She-Hulk just fit perfectly.

It doesn't happen often, but a photo cover is sometimes so perfect.

I sometimes prefer the covers for the TPB omnibus collections over the hardcovers. This one has Katma Tui on it, so it's automatically superior.

The Michael Cho cover for the Wonder Woman Golden-Age Omnibus vol. 4 makes me really happy.

If you want a one-shot glance at the Golden-Age Superman and Wonder Woman, drawn by one of the best, José Luis García-López, then this is an absolute must. Also reminds me of how much I want the Bronze-Age Wonder Woman to get an omnibus. Such an underrated time for her.

An Alex Ross Zatanna that I've never seen.

Mulan is a near perfect Disney animated film, really strikes an emotional chord with me...but, I always think about how much better it'd be if Mushu wasn't in it. Such an aggressively annoying distraction. The comic sidekicks are the thing I dislike most about the Disney Rennaisance.

Once again, animation does it better - Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is pretty damn good. While I'm getting burnt out on teenage Peter Parker (My Spidey hasn't been in HS since 1965), it does a VERY good job with the high school drama. Also, a Spidey who stumbles and messes up.

The Flash #163 is a bit sentimental. The Flash's existence is wiped from everyone's memory, save for one little girl. It features a nice "I believe in the Flash!" moment, along the lines of the resurrection of Tinker Bell in Peter Pan. The metatextual nature of the DC Universe goes way back.

I love this Bryan O'Malley Young Avengers variant.
