This approach hasn't stopped the problem you're describing. It just creates a new problem where legitimate artists get harassed because their art 'looks like AI,' which only fuels the exact suspicion and distrust you're talking about.
I think it's important for the health and wellbeing of the art community to learn to identify and shun the use of AI in our spaces. It makes us suspicious and untrusting of the people we follow and it sucks the enjoyment out of a hobby we all participate in as consumers and creators.
