i was (rightfully so) told my wording here with "redo" was very bad, so i'm providing screenshots from that conversation where i apologized, explained what i actually meant to convey, and gave more info about why i suggested this event week in the first place, because i think it's all important.
posts from me that say: okay, i can own up to wording that poorly, and i hope you'll give me the chance to explain better what i actually meant. what i meant to convey but very clearly missed the mark, was that the latino jayce week very much did NOT encompass ALL latinos, and i found that sad. it is true that i have— a very US-centric view despite all that i try to open my mind up, considering i am american, so i hope you'll understand when i say i was hoping for *some* of the creations made for that week, in addition to LatAm jayce, to be immigrant jayce because that would reflect on the experiences of many of— continuation from the last screenshot/comment: the people i grew up with. but that very much was not the case with latino jayce week, and what i meant to convey with immigrant jayvik week was a week to have those voices heard who were perviously not counted during that week and very notably were shunned and discriminated against by many of the— creators who took part in the event. i did not mean to convey that i wanted to talk OVER LatAm people, and it's absolutely my bad that i worded myself so poorly that i accidentally implied that. i simply wanted a week for the people who were left out, as well as other immigrant experiences that— continuation from the last screenshot/comment: could be explored through viktor. again, i worded myself very poorly and i do apologize for that, but i still think an immigrant jayvik week would be great for those who were previously excluded, if the event was run by someone who 1) knew what they were doing,— and 2) actually was someone who has the real life experiences immigrant jayce/viktor may have also experienced, which i very much am not qualified for in either regard. more comments from me on a different reply thread that say: man and this is so fucking sad because it's like, we all really did want the latin jayce event to be a celebration of all latinos!! the fact that they encouraged non-english fic was genuinely a good idea considering how english-centric so much of fandom is! but like i said before, they failed the— second that started to exclude one "type" of latino that they didnt deem "latino enough." you cant call it a celebration of ALL latinos if you arent going to accept ALL of them, and that's what the big issue was. the other user claiming the rules were open about it is being willfully obtuse— because that in no way rights the fact that *the event was exclusionary under the guise of being a celebration of "all"*
