The central pair are a darker shade of grey than the outer tail feathers then they have that dark pigmentation on them which is usually just at the tip but is really variable in extent. In bad light and from a distance can look black or dark brown 👍

Wow!, the number of Red-legged Partridge releases has really changed up here, see them in really bizarre places now like high up in the Cairngorms!

It is real, it’s obviously not migration just released Pheasants sunning themselves on a south-facing slope before getting disturbed by me cycling up the track!

A notably poor year for them passing through here in Scotland, maybe only five all autumn, almost as many Black-faced Buntings!

The scheme works well in Strathspey for the re-introduction we have here. The vets we have are very supportive, there was an extensive trap-neuter-vaccinate-release scheme for feral cats caught in the Strathspey. It was incredible to see just how many feral cats there were during camera trapping..

It all kicked off yesterday afternoon on North Ron with a Radde’s Warbler trapped at the obs! And then a Northern Bullfinch caught at HH

I didn’t think it could get any better until Alison and I found this Black-throated Thrush in a net during the roost catch!
