I dont think its that simple, just extending. Has to be right timing for both.

Agreed, doesn’t want to commit to long term contracts. Which…is nit a bad idea on the whole. Very few players are worth long term deals.

Either outcome is possible.

The idea that he is washed, after 1 bad season, is crazy. He is too young to think that.
December 22, 2025 at 2:59 PM
All good, i hope Vientos can be effective this year too.

it will be close enough and we wont have to worry about that dead arm in left. I loved Nimmo, but he needs to be a DH. Runner on second was automatic score every time when ball hit to him.
December 22, 2025 at 4:32 AM
He will be nimmo like in his production.
December 22, 2025 at 3:50 AM
Really? Based on what? By that measure Nimmo could not hit either.
December 21, 2025 at 10:18 PM
Diaz blunder has soured me on Stearns. Rest of moves fine with.
December 21, 2025 at 10:17 PM
wrt to Murakami. its telling that he went to WhiteSox. That should indicate what everyone thinks about him.

not sure the comments section is the best place for analysis.

Polanco is a versatile player. Thats why they signed him. They did not sign him to replace Pete. If anything his production will be that of Nimmo, while actually being an effective defensive player. Its still Dec, plenty of time left.
December 21, 2025 at 6:13 PM
I'm willing to bet they didn't see the upside in a low avg, high K player, that wont be much better defensively than say Vientos. Also, you seem really stuck on Polanco as the everyday 1B. I bet that wont be the case. He will play 1B, but also DH, 2b, 3b, and in a pinch SS.
December 21, 2025 at 6:07 PM
Also hate poor defense and long-term contracts for aging players.
December 18, 2025 at 3:39 PM
early dec ;)

In the end wins will determine it all. What Stearns does do get more wins than last year will be ultimate barometer, which will take many moves. If Mets make playoffs next year, then success. If you must, Polanco will prob be on par with Nimmo if you were to make a direct comparison.
December 13, 2025 at 10:59 PM
I bet pete and polanco both go 1-4 opening day.
December 13, 2025 at 10:36 PM
He is not the solution, nor is he supposed to be. He is just a quality player added to the team. Thats all. He is not meant to replace Pete.

Note: I love your content, please don't think Im trying to be an a$$hole by all my replies. Just enjoy back and forth with real Met fans.
December 13, 2025 at 9:52 PM
30HR is Pete 2024 number, prob with better D. I would take that, but I doubt Jeff is still on team come spring.
December 13, 2025 at 9:50 PM
why? He could easily replicate the most recent year. We can always cherry pick years to make an argument. Pete 2024: .240, 34HR 88RBI. Pretty pedestrian for 30M+ per year. for next 5years.
December 13, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Mets dont let anything slip to media, ever. Thats why nothing nothing inspires. Diaz was a fumble of sorts, I get that. Calculated misstep for sure.
December 13, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Its not massive, its the going rate for that caliber of player. Its slightly higher due to only 2 seasons. He is 1B/DH for now, but will see by seasons end. My guess is DH and backup to multiple positions in the end.
December 13, 2025 at 9:18 PM
nah. Im mad too overall, but dont give Wilpons any sort of credit or goodwill.
