Holy shit, I can't wait for Coffinkeep. No rush, though, don't get me wrong! Greatness can't be rushed.

Oh, wow, can't believe this is the first I'm hearing of this quickstart! Rome and vampires go together like PB and J.

Undying is one of those rare games that truly push the boundaries of what people expect from PbtA, and it's a shame it didn't get more traction. The layout is gorgeous, the art is great, the writing is flavourful, and the rules are better at enabling vampire intrigue than VtM. It's a hidden gem.

Just to be clear, I bought a physical copy through a reseller, lmao.

Not that I have anything against piracy, mind, particularly when it comes to lost media. In fact, the game's pt-br pdf probably counts as lost media, which is another reason why I've been desperate for a physical copy for so long.

I didn't know you were a Caster Main! Great picks, though.

The deeper we get into the 20s, the more it seems like streaming was a huge mistake, and a return to physical media is almost a necessity. I'll look into Tidal, though, thanks for the rec.

Just found out Spotify has been running recruitment ads for ICE, and I'm fucking mortified. Wrapped is cool, but you know what's cooler? Music platforms that don't support and enable fascists. Fuck Spotify.
December 3, 2025 at 6:39 PM
I'm totally out of the loop here, holy shit. Didn't know Spotify was fucking around with fascists; the AI shit was already bad enough. Gotta find a new music platform now.

What a gorgeous selection of awesome people, though. Y'all are the reason I came back to Bsky. Thanks for being consistently awesome.

I think this still fits the case where it's more thematically appropriate to mark boxes instead of erasing them. It's quite morbid, too, since you're forced to confront the number of times you almost died every time you advance that track. Just a matter of time before luck runs out. 10/10, tbh.

My partner hated roll under games with a passion, regardless of how advantageous they are to players and GMs when compared with modifiers. I have no idea when or why it clicked for her, but it eventually did, and now she complains about having to memorize and add/subtract modifiers. Go figure.

This deserves all the visibility it can get. Great work, seriously. I can't overstate the importance of these practices.

Right around the release of the final season of their biggest TV show, to boot. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Death in Space is spectacular as a pick-up game! One of my favourites for open tables, along with CY_BORG, Cairn 2e and BFRPG.

Small caveat: lore/symbolism matters and can make all the difference in whether a track feels better as a countdown or as cumulative. Rising tension isn't positive, but it feels wrong to subtract something that's supposed to be rising.
December 2, 2025 at 9:02 PM
I feel like positive tracks being cumulative feels more intuitive, while subtraction works better for negative tracks.

To its credit, Mothership does a great job at showing you important GMing skills, though, but I feel like there's a difference between *reading* about those skills and actually internalising them for use at the table.

Good rules, on the other hand, can fill the gaps in your GMing skills.
December 2, 2025 at 7:56 PM
Yep. It ain't about the rules, it's about the entitled play culture surrounding 5e. If the GM is the only person who has to learn all the rules and do all the work, *any* game will feel rules light to the players.
