More testing of our city street tile set. Its one thing to lay them out in blender, but to really see if they work you gotta get it in engine and let the rubber meet the road!

Today, machinefun attended the UGM games festival at the University of greater Manchester in Bolton. Attendees got a chance to play our latest build and give us valuable feedback on our game.

Heres a peek at what our levels look like early in the design process. Working out scale, metrics and what feels 'right', we can get a sense of all those things using very basic geo.

Its also very quick and easy to make changes, then play again. Iteration is key!

Because we have our metrics set we can also add tile pieces that allow us to add some height variation too. These pieces are for testing btw, not final art :)
January 22, 2026 at 4:11 PM
You can see here how these pieces can be arranged to form a layout. We can also make and swap in variants or new tiles to add visual and game play variety.

The making of the down and dirty streets of Trash City! To design one of our city arenas, we had to first work out the roads.

We are experimenting with a tile set that allows us to quickly assemble layouts. Once we feel we have a good foundation, we can then build out from there.

We love trash, but not this type!

At no point will we ever use gen AI in the making of our games. Get in the bin with that rubbish!
