So on one side yes because this is how I’ve ended up doing a back-to-brick Reno of my mums while she lives in it, but she wouldn’t let me in for years.
On the other side, I was estranged from my father for a decade before his early death, and “visit your parents” is advice that hurts many.

We’ll have to sell up before we get old (43 now) - lots of stairs in our house and that won’t work with bad knees… and mine already complain

Also be aware of your own changing situation I guess - you can’t *make* a parent move, even if you know it’s a mess (my mum is hoping to get £200k ish for hers when it’s done up, so I’m not speaking from the mumsnet speaker’s space)…

Fucking sucks, doesn’t it. My 14yo has been howling in tears tonight cos she did v badly in a chem test when she gets exhausted and can’t go to school midweek though she tries. Wednesday is chemistry. Not her fault. Sucks for her.

I mean don’t get me wrong I love the job. People are nice to me, it’s really senior, going well, well paid. It’s just a job where I have to manage everything all the time. Perimenopause is big on demand fatigue for me. I can’t say FUCK OFF LEAVE ME ALONE when they’re paying me to decide shit 24/7.

I told my psychiatrist I was struggling like all fuck and he was like “you could increase dose but will be expensive to come off shared care agreement to titrate again” then said nothing about it in letter to my gp
