Gaeun, a member of MADEIN, was sexually harassed by her CEO (revealed in JTBC Incident Room 22nd November). After a performance in October, Gaeun had accidentally brought her boyfriend to the dorms, which led to a scolding by CEO. CEO had asked her to act as his "girlfriend" for the day to which Gaeun accepted as she was worried about losing her career. She believed his request to mean simple things like eating a meal or watching a movie, only to be forcibly kissed and groped in her private areas after CEO locked the office door. This behaviour occurred again when CEO took her to a movie theatre. Gaeun recounted that her CEO said he'd grant her wish if she grants his. CEO reveals his wish that Gaeun is to be his girlfriend and then Gaeun is forced into kissing him. CEO continued to touch her private areas and chest without consent for 2 hours. Her agency, 143 Entertainment, has denied these claims, their legal representative claimed that it was Gaeun who initiated the proposal of acting as CEO's girlfriend. 143 Ent. has also claimed to possess footage of the two traveling in a car together, having casual conversations including "wishes" but no unusual behaviour. Gaeun's parents confronted CEO who initially denied the allegations but eventually admitted fault saying "I made a clear mistake". Gaeun's parents have pointed prior instances of the same behaviour, contrary to the CEO who insisted it only happened once. Gaeun's parents accused the CEO of threatening the group members of MADEIN with disadvantages if they didn't comply with his wishes. CEO had reportedly violated his promise to step down and no longer be in contact with the members. He accompanied MADEIN in a flight to Japan, sitting next to Gaeun which left them all deeply shaken. Due to her trauma, Gaeun's health declined and she was forced to suspend her activities on November 11 due to "health reasons" 143 Ent. later released a statement expressing regret and request fans' understanding. Gaeun would then delete all her Instagram posts and unfollow agency-related accounts. She now only follows the official group and her fellow members. 143 Ent. continues to maintain their stance that no sexual harassment occurred, claiming physical interaction was limited to a consoling hug from CEO after Gaeun requested to stay in the group. Instead, they've accused Gaeun of causing disturbances within the team. CEO is alleged to have attempted to brainwash the other MADEIN members to believe that Gaeun was the perpetrator and him the victim. According to a whistle-blower, CEO told the members "If this becomes public and the company shuts down or suffers damage, do you know how much compensation you'll owe? Are you going to continue or not? Answer O or X" The members answered with a triangle, meaning unsure, due to fear. Later, CEO stated to the producers of the show (JTBC Incident Room) that the allegations were "groundless" and again claimed "no sexual harassment or sexual contact between the member and the CEO", that Gaeun had repeatedly caused discord within the team, and while it is true that CEO hugged her in consolation that she can continue group activities, it couldn't be considered sexual contact. Regarding the state of MADEIN, CEO appealed "It is difficult to disband the group because there are shareholders. Please trust me as I will lead this group well moving forward."
