For commuting-distance rides (sub-3 km), most people don't need anything special. Hat and mitts (not gloves) and a warm coat and you're good to go. I break out the balaclava when it gets down below -15c. I'll skip rides if there was a big dump of snow, but that's only a handful of times/yr.

It's just polite to say thank you if someone compliments you (did the compliment not make you feel good? That's what its for...). Sounds like you want to tell them to take it back

I think this is misinterpreting the cartoon. He doesn't get offended, riled up or whatever. He just keeps stating what he actually wants. It's a commentary on companies trying to change us, not the other way around. They won't take "no" for an answer, to their detriment (lady waiting to order)
